Swanage Sea Rowing Club (CPGA)
Swanage Sea Rowing Club is a charitable trust formed to promote community participation in healthy exercise by providing facilities for sea rowing. The club is open for all to join and welcomes newcomers. Rowing sessions are organized throughout the week for beginners, juniors, social rowers and racing squads. The club uses Cornish Pilot Gigs which are a 32 ft wooden clinker built fixed seat rowing boat, the boat is rowed by six rowers each using a single wooden oar and the boat is steered by a coxswain. Each rowing session is managed by a trained Coxswain or Coach and the safety of the boat and crew is always paramount. Boats are launched from Swanage stone quay and rowing sessions take place in Swanage Bay. The changing sea conditions provide a challenging but fun row and the beautiful Dorset coastline provides a stunning back drop.
